There are no Specific state-mandated prerequisites to "take" this course, however you must be 21 or older, be a North Carolina resident, be able to legally own a firearm and pass a criminal and mental health records background check in order to receive a Concealed Carry Handgun Permit from your local county sheriff's office.
Course details
The course will break down all the do's and don'ts for carrying a concealed pistol and test your ability to safely handle and shoot a pistol from a distance of 3, 5, and 7 yards. Please bring a minimum of 50 rounds of ammunition, your handgun, and hearing & eye protection. This course consists of 8 hours of classroom instruction, a written exam, and the shooting assessment. Once you have successfully completed all requirements you will receive a signed certificate from the instructor stating that you have passed. You then must apply for a permit through your county's sheriff's office. Note: If you do not yet own a handgun, we will have guns on hand for you to use, but we ask that you bring your own ammunition.
